Parallel Hybrid vs. Series Hybrid

If you’re looking for an opportunity to increase your fuel efficiency, hybrid vehicles are a great place to start. Many of our Early customers often ask “how does it work?”. There are two different types of hybrid vehicles: parallel and series hybrids. Hybrid vehicles use an electric motor and a gasoline engine to run the vehicle. In hybrid systems, the two work together to minimize fuel consumption. For more detailed information on how hybrid vehicles work, read below:

Parallel Hybrids: The electric motor and gas engine are connected to the transmission. By blending both power sources together, the vehicle functions. Most hybrid vehicles today are parallel hybrids.

Series Hybrids: These hybrid vehicles only have the electric motor connected to the transmission. The electric motor is the primary source of power and the gasoline engine serves as a backup generator for the electric motor.

Hybrid Vehicles vs Electric Vehicles
