Proceeds from the First 2013 Corvette 427 Go Straight to Charity

Chevrolet Corvette 427 Convertible with a VIN ending in 001 was the very first model from 2013 to hit the auction block last month at the Barret-Jackson collector car auction. How much do you think it sold for? $200,000? $400,000? Try $600,000.

No, we're not kidding. While we think that every new Corvette we sell here at Bayer Motor Company is worth its weight in gold - trust us when we say you won't be paying that much when the 2013 Corvette models roll into our showroom later this year.

So what was up with the auction? Well, to start with, this was the Collector Edition Corvette in honor of the car's 60th Anniversary. And, all of the benefits from the sale of the very first 2013 Corvette went straight to AARP's Drive to End Hunger. With a generous donation from another car collector at the auction, the joint fundraising effort between Chevrolet and Jeff Gordon raised more than $700,000 to raise awareness and funds for Americans threatened by hunger on a daily basis.

What makes the 427 Corvette Convertible so special? For 2013, the engineers at Chevy took some of the best elements from some of the best Corvettes and combined them to make one hot supercar. With a six-speed manual transmission, a 7.0-liter LS7 engine and 505 horsepower roaring under the hood, the 2013 Corvette 427 is the fastest and most capable Corvette in history.

It's also going to be a rare bird - Chevy only plans on producing the 2013 models for nine months before moving on to the next-gen 'Vette for 2014. With that in mind, be sure to stay tuned with Bayer Motor Company, located at 218 E Grand Comanche, TX 76442 to hear when it arrives. When you're ready to take one for a spin, contact us via our website or give us a call at (800) 843-5230 to arrange a time to meet with a member of our team.
