Shopping for a new car? We bet you've talked to your friends, you've surfed the web, and you've narrowed down your list of "must-haves." So if you're looking for an eco-friendly, fuel-efficient vehicle, you're probably going to want one that's been applauded by major buyer information resources. Well how about the car that Consumer Reports says has the highest percentage of satisfied new-vehicle owners between the years of 2009 and 2012?
That's right, the annual satisfaction survey published by Consumer Reports says that Chevy Volt owners are the most satisfied new car owners. About ninety-three percent of them say they would definitely buy the car again.
There are a lot of reasons to love the latest EV from Chevrolet, but one of the main reasons is probably because the plug-in hybrid Volt can run on just electricity for about 35 miles. After that, the Volt automatically transitions to gas-power, for a combined EPA-estimated 95-mpg city/90-mpg highway. That said, if your commute to work every day is less than 35 miles, and you charge your Volt every night, you probably won't use an ounce of gasoline. Even so, one fill-up of the nine-gallon fuel tank will take you more than 300 miles.
The Volt has definitely proven to be quite the competition for pure-EV vehicles. Keeping that in mind, we have to admit that sales of the Volt have been a bit slower than Chevy had initially hoped. Though a recent study from parent company General Motors says that over 70-percent of drivers who have shown an interest in buying a Volt, haven't done so due to lack of availability. To make up for that, Chevrolet told dealers to sell their demo Volt models starting in November, and numbers indicate that this has helped sales outpace the sales of a major EV competitor.
